Finally available through Garbage City Productions is the New Idiots classic debut album, Moshmania.

The year is 1990.  The world’s premier crappy music group, Fred Gombo and the Sex Socks, have just pulled off a veritable coup: The Idiots, chief rival of the Sex Socks (the Idiots actually recorded a track called “Anti-Sex Sock Song”) have become buddies with Fred Gombo and actually joined the Sex Socks.  Enter Waldo “Weirdo” Idiot, cousin of Idiots’ vocalist Jonny Idiot.  Weirdo Idiot was furious that his cousin’s band could consider working with Fred Gombo and the Sex Socks after nearly two years of being their arch-rivals.  With the absence of The Idiots, at the time there was no one to challenge the Sex Socks in their quest to be the world’s worst band.  Hence, Weirdo Idiot assembled a band in the image and spirit of The Idiots, and called it The New Idiots.   Previous to the emergence of other shitty bands such as Barney Broth & the Virgin Gloves, Frank Bouillon & the Unic Boots, and Joe Soup & the Bondage Hats, the New Idiots were the only group in existence that dared challenge The Sex Socks to be the world’s worst band, filling the void left by The Idiots quite capably.  They did a hell of a job, too, especially with the release of their landmark debut album, Moshmania, which you hold in your hands now.  When I was producing this album I had no idea at the time that it would go down in history as one of the most important shitty albums of all time.  The ferocity of Fred Grilch’s rhythm guitars, the rage and ineptness of lead guitarist Eddie Machete, and the thumping, thudding, clumsy bass playing of Jim Butz all combine to make for one terribly angry, heavy, raunchy, shitty sound.  All this, and add the sarcastic vocals of Weirdo Idiot, and you have a formula for a really, really great shitty album.  So here it is, digitally remastered in under four hours by resident technical guru John Bidochka in the grotto of Garbage City Productions HQ, for your, um, “enjoyment”.  Yeah, that’s it, “enjoyment”.             – Colin Reid
