| Finally available
through Garbage City Productions is the Idiots classic debut album, Stupidity. |
| Production notes
and miscellany: At the time of the recording of Stupidity, there was only one band
on Earth attempting to be the shittiest of all. That band was Fred Gombo and the Sex
Socks. The Idiots were formed primarily as a counter-measure against the Sex Socks;
someone had to make sure that their bid to be the worst did not go unchallenged. So, this
group of unskilled musicians called The Idiots set about making lousy music. They
succeeded. While not as unabashedly shitty as the cacophony that was created by the Sex
Socks, the music created by The Idiots was pretty crappy in its own right. Somehow,
though, some of this music managed to be enjoyably shitty, unlike most of the music that
has made its way to commercial radio in the last twenty years. This album was recorded and
produced by The Idiots for their own record label, Stupid Records. Stupidity
is not just another crappy album, no sir. This album right here was the beginning of a
style of music that can only be categorized as Idiots music. The trademark
clunky rhythm style, bad soloing, almost-in-rhythm bass playing, and sarcastic vocals that
have been used by The Idiots, and later The New Idiots and Idiots Of Idiocy, was
established HERE. The classic distorted acoustic guitar and distorted vocals
rear their heads here as well. So, make no mistake, this album is important. Really it is.
